Ok time to rock your world! Did you know that the park opening times listed on Disney’s website aren’t actually true? What???
Yup, Disney technically allows guests into its parks BEFORE their listed times. It’s what they call “rope drop”. Guests are actually allowed to enter into the parks through the turnstiles and then (depending on the specific park) you will then proceed to a pre-defined rope drop location. Today I’m discussing the Magic Kingdom rope drop procedures…..
Magic Kingdom changed their opening procedures at the beginning of 2017. Take a look at how it works now.
- Guests can now enter the park 1 hour before official park opening time. Sometimes even a little earlier than this on busier park days.
- You will then be allowed onto Main Street. Shops will be open including The Main Street Bakery where you can grab some Starbucks and a pastry.
- You’ll then be able to go up to the Hub (in front of Cinderella’s castle) where cast members will be standing with a rope stopping you from entering the different lands. The rope will be removed after the Welcome Show.
- The new Welcome Show is held on the stage in front of the castle before the park opens. It’s called Let the Magic Begin and includes multiple characters welcoming you to the park.
